While Xanax is also helpful in panic attack management by relieving its symptoms and frequency of onset. They mostly differ in how long they stay in the body systemically wise. How long does Clonazepam stay in your body? Clonazepam stays in the body longer than Xanax. The half-life of Xanax is 6 to 25 hours while Clonzepam (Klonopin) stays in the body for 22 to 54 hours.

How should you take it?
The dose of clonazepam will depend on the diagnosis, age, and response to treatment. With initiation of treatment, it usually starts with the lowest dose to assess any side effects or even decrease its occurrence. Do not take the medication longer than it is prescribed to avoid any forms of habit of dependence and tolerance.
The usual dose for seizure prophylaxis is 1.5 mg orally per day divided into 3 doses; this may be increased in increments of 0.5 mg to 1 mg every 3 days until seizures are adequately controlled. Do not exceed a dose of 20mg per day.
While the usual dose for panic disorders is 0.25mg orally 2 times per day with a maintenance dose of 1mg per day. Do not exceed a dose of 4mg per day.
The dose may vary depending on the patient’s tolerance with the medication. Best be aware of the side-effects that may include upper respiratory tract infection, ataxia, depression, and dizziness.
